Lost Tribe Perfumes
Home Alone began as an idea to capture the clean comfort and chaos of the holidays. Inspired by the spirit of the iconic film, it was built around nostalgia, that nostalgia of that classic Polo Green or other fragrances of that nature.
At its core is a soapy-fresh accord, something that feels clean and authentic and brings you back to a time where designer scents used some naturals to create beautiful blends. Each material was chosen for a purpose, with the goal of making a fragrance that feels simple on the surface but reveals its complexity with time. The clean accord isn’t built from synthetic aldehydes; it’s constructed entirely from naturals from citrus, woods, florals, and musk working together in harmony.
Every 15ml bottle of Home Alone contains 1 gram of pure Black Thai Kinam, one of the rarest and most valuable ouds in the world. It’s the backbone of the fragrance, giving the composition its density and a refined, smoothness that no other material can replicate. This oud is nearly impossible to source, and its price reflects that rarity. It’s also what made Home Alone one of the most expensive fragrances we’ve ever produced. The Black Thai Kinam was used in a high dose in the blend, so its presence runs through the perfume from top to base.
The top opens with bergamot, Port Oxford cedar, lychee rose musk, and brown ambergris. The bergamot adds a crisp and fresh scent setting the tone for the clean accord that follows. Port Oxford cedar adds a subtle woody tone, that helps the fragrance project. The lychee rose musk gives a smooth floral curve that softens the edges, while brown ambergris provides lift and diffusion. The combination creates the first impression.
It’s in this top layer that the soapy character begins to emerge, not sharp or synthetic, but the natural kind of clean that comes from woods, citrus, and musk blending in harmony. Each note contributes to the sensation without dominating it. The bergamot and ambergris bring sparkle; the cedar and rose musk give body and roundness.
The heart introduces the unexpected: licorice root, lavender, gardenia enfleurage, and the soap accord itself. The licorice root is the key to the entire composition. It adds a subtle, earthy sweetness with a soft black licorice edge that enhances the soap note. Its purpose is structural, it gives the clean accord depth, allowing the freshness to last longer and to blend naturally into the base.
Lavender bridges the citrus of the top to the sourness of the gardenia, maintaining that balance. The gardenia enfleurage adds texture, giving the soap accord a gentle floral body, but not sweet like other florals but sharp and slightly sour. The soap accord, built from natural materials rather than synthetics, ties it all together. It’s airy, modern, and designed to smell like the faint trace of clean skin after a shower.
This heart phase is where Home Alone comes to life. The fragrance feels familiar, comforting, but unique. The soap accord expands quietly, while the licorice root adds its distinct dna beneath it, giving it that signature twist.
The base is where everything settles, anchored by red meat sandalwood, Mongolian musk tincture, Black Thai Kinam, patchouli, and cedarwood. The red meat sandalwood adds a smooth creamyness, giving the perfume its lasting foundation. The Mongolian musk tincture brings an animalic note and adds a touch of sensuality, blending perfectly with the soap accord’s clean tone.
The Black Thai Kinam oud reveals itself even more! Earthy, Dark, and a slight tamarinde aspect. It grounds the composition completely, giving the fresh structure weight and sophistication. The patchouli and cedarwood finish the base, adding to the soap accord. Together, they prevent the perfume from drying down into flatness; instead, it stays alive for hours, moving slowly between clean brightness and warm depth.
What makes Home Alone so distinct is how every note supports the soapy-fresh structure without losing its own identity. The bergamot stays crisp even in the drydown. The cedar adds a smooth woodyness. The licorice root gives it that unexpected twist that makes the perfume memorable. And the Black Thai Kinam ties it all together with a depth that lingers long after the rest fades.
Despite its clarity, this wasn’t an easy perfume to make. The high cost of the Black Thai Kinam, along with the use of natural musk and ambergris, made production challenging and expensive. But it was necessary to achieve the level of refinement and texture we wanted. No synthetic note could replace what these naturals bring; that layered depth and evolving movement on the skin.
