The journey into the sensory wilderness of Smoky Bear begins with an array of top notes, where the classical elegance of Rose Otto immediately commands attention. This timeless floral note, revered for its pure and uplifting aroma, merges seamlessly with the zesty, bright spark of Lime and the sweet, luscious touch of Raspberry. These fruity accents introduce a burst of freshness, hinting at the lush richness to come. Complementing this vibrant start, Gardenia lends its creamy, luxurious floral scent, enveloping the sharper notes in a smooth embrace. Orange Blossom Essential Oil adds a final touch of citrus-floral delight.

As the initial layers settle, Smoky Bear reveals its heart—an intricate fusion of wood and floral notes that forms the core of the fragrance. Buddha Wood and Jade Wood anchor the heart with their deep, resonant wooden tones. These wood notes create a robust foundation that supports the more delicate floral scents of Orris Butter, Jasmine Sambac, and Night Blooming Jasmine. Orris Butter, with its soft powdery feel, bridges the gap between the woody depths and the ethereal jasmine, which unfolds its intoxicating, sweet fragrance as the day fades into night, mimicking the flowers’ natural blooming cycle.

The narrative deepens with the base notes, where the theme of smoky rose oud is beautifully articulated through a sophisticated codistillation of Pink Rose & Trat and Red Rose & Trat. This innovative technique infuses the classic rose scent with an oudy richness. Complementing this are Choya Loban, which contributes its own smoky undertones derived from a burnt frankincense distillation. The smokiness is further enriched by Agreed Mysore Sandalwood and Patchouli, adding a creamy, earthy backdrop that enhances the fragrance’s complexity. Borneo Oud Resin, known for its rich, deep resinous notes, rounds out the composition, lending an opulent, lasting finish that anchors the smoky floral theme in a distinctly luxurious manner.

OUR ALL NATURAL

Our Process

  • Step 1: Initial Blend.

The creation of Smoky Bear began with a clear vision: to capture the essence of smoky rose oud within a sophisticated fragrance framework. The first step was selecting high-quality, natural ingredients that could embody this vision while ensuring a balanced and cohesive scent profile. - Top Notes: The perfumers chose Rose Otto for its pure floral elegance, Raspberry for a sweet, fruity zest, Lime for a citrusy kick, Gardenia for its lush depth, and Orange Blossom Essential Oil for its subtle freshness. - Heart Notes: For the heart, the selection focused on a blend of woods and florals to deepen the complexity. Buddha Wood and Jade Wood were chosen for their rich, grounding aroma, paired with Orris Butter for its luxurious texture. Jasmine Sambac and Night Blooming Jasmine were selected to introduce a delicate, intoxicating floralcy that blooms as the fragrance evolves. - Base Notes: The base notes are crucial for the lasting impression and included Pink Rose & Trat codistillation and Red Rose & Trat codistillation to enhance the rose-oud theme. Choya Loban, Lavender, Agreed Mysore, Patchouli, and Borneo Oud Resin were selected to anchor the fragrance with a deep, resinous warmth that complements the smoky theme.

  • Step 2: Formulating and Balancing.

With the ingredients selected, the next step was to formulate the fragrance by carefully balancing the oils to achieve the desired scent profile. This phase involved: Experimentation: The perfumers experimented with different concentrations and combinations of the selected notes to find the perfect balance where each scent could shine without overpowering the others. - Layering: Special attention was given to how the notes interact over time—from the initial application to the full dry-down. The layering process ensured that the transition between the top, heart, and base notes was seamless and that the smoky rose oud theme remained prominent throughout the fragrance evolution. - Refinement: Multiple iterations were created and tested, both in lab conditions and on skin, to refine the balance and intensity of each note, ensuring that Smoky Bear would offer a consistent and appealing experience to all users.

Our Ingredients

Choya Loban

Choya Loban, is a traditional aromatic resin derived from the Boswellia tree. It is created through a unique process where the frankincense resin is slowly distilled over a direct flame, resulting in a deeply smoky, resinous scent that is rich and complex. The scent profile of Choya Loban is characterized by its intense, smoky aroma which is much heavier and more pervasive than the raw or unburnt frankincense. It possesses a balsamic quality with woody undertones that evoke the smell of burning wood and resin. The fragrance is also marked by slight spicy and leathery notes, adding to its depth.

Rose Otto

The lemony aspect of Rose Otto introduces a crisp, citrusy note that cuts through the lush sweetness of the typical rose scent. This citrus nuance can be likened to the zest of a lemon peel—vibrant and a touch acidic—providing a fresh, invigorating lift to the overall aroma. This lemony sharpness enhances the rose's inherent freshness, lending a clean, almost astringent quality that can brighten and elevate the floral heart. Moreover, the bitter element of Rose Otto brings a certain depth and maturity to the scent. It's this bitterness that gives Rose Otto a more complex, less traditionally 'floral' character; it’s reminiscent of the natural bitterness found in fresh rose petals, which can sometimes be sensed when one inhales deeply from a freshly picked bloom.

Our Quality Speaks For Itself

Fact 1

Choya Loban, which is also known as burnt frankincense, is traditionally made using a unique method that involves burning or charring frankincense resin over direct heat. This process not only alters the chemical composition of the resin, enhancing its smoky properties, but it also dates back several centuries, deeply rooted in Middle Eastern and Asian cultures. The technique of burning frankincense has historically been used not only to intensify the fragrance for perfumery and incense but also for ritualistic purposes. In various cultural practices, burning frankincense is believed to purify the air, ward off evil spirits, and facilitate a spiritual connection, making Choya Loban a staple in both aromatic and spiritual applications. This dual use as both a perfumery ingredient and a spiritual enhancer underscores its cultural and historical significance.

Fact 2

Trat oud is known for its extraordinarily sweet, fruity, and honey-like aroma, distinctively different from the more typical woody or animalic scents associated with ouds from other regions. This unique profile makes Trat oud highly sought after, especially among connoisseurs and collectors who prize it for its ability to add a complex, deeply aromatic, and unexpectedly sweet layer to fragrances. Its rarity and distinctive scent profile are attributed to the specific environmental conditions and ancient aquilaria trees found in Trat, which contribute to the resin's unique characteristics.
