Top Notes:
Prince opens with a harmonious blend of Lavender Maillette—a variety of lavender celebrated for its sweet, floral, and slightly herbaceous aroma. This particular lavender sets the stage with its calming and distinctively clean profile. Complementing this is the vibrant zest of Japanese Yuzu, which adds a burst of citrus brightness, cutting through the tranquility with its sharp, tangy edge. Chlorodendron introduces a subtle, fruity berry freshness to the mix, while Chinese Geranium offers a crisp, rosy touch that enhances the floral spectrum. White Ambergris rounds out the top notes with its warm, marine sophistication, lending a refined complexity that heightens the initial olfactory encounter.

Heart Notes:
As the composition unfolds, Lavender Absolute, a more intense and concentrated form of lavender, anchors the heart, deepening the initial lavender theme with its rich, velvety essence. This heart is further adorned with Turkish Rose and Jasmine Sambac, each adding their own lush, intoxicating floral notes. Osmanthus introduces a soft, apricot-like sweetness, adding a layer of fruity, creamy texture to the bouquet. Neroli offers a slight bitter-citrus counterpoint that invigorates the senses, while Jade Wood injects a subtle, smooth woody note that bridges the transition to the base.

Base Notes:
The base of Prince is where the majesty of Oud takes center stage, with both Cambodi Oud and Malaysian Oud! These Oud varieties are known for their warm, woody, and resinous qualities. Patchouli deepens this complexity with its rich, musky-earthy aroma, complementing the woody notes perfectly. Red Meat Sandalwood provides a creamy, rich backdrop that enhances the overall smoothness of the base. Vanilla adds a touch of sweetness, cutting through the denseness with its inviting warmth, while Fir Needle and Cedarmoss introduce a resinous, forest-like freshness that completes the scent with a bright, clean finish.

Every bottle of Prince contains an exceptionally large quantity of Oud, making each spray a lavish indulgence. This abundance ensures that the Oud’s profound presence permeates throughout the fragrance, maintaining its luxurious, powerful essence from the first spritz to the final lingering note.

Our Process

  • Step 1: Conceptualization and Ingredient Selection

The first step in developing "Prince" was conceptualizing the fragrance's identity, aligning it with the qualities associated with the artist—uniqueness, depth, and sensuality. I decided to emphasize Lavender and Oud due to their rich aromatic profiles and their ability to convey both sophistication and edge.

Ingredient Sourcing: High-quality ingredients were sourced to ensure the fragrance's premium quality. Lavender Maillette and Lavender Absolute were chosen for their exquisite floral and herbal notes. For the Oud, Cambodi and Malaysian varieties were selected.

Complementary Notes: Other components were chosen to complement and enhance the central notes of Lavender and Oud. Elements like Japanese Yuzu, Turkish Rose, Jasmine Sambac, and Red Meat Sandalwood were included to add complexity and vibrancy to the fragrance.

  • Step 2: Formulation and Experimentation

With the ingredients selected, the next phase was the careful formulation of the fragrance. This stage involved balancing the potent notes of Oud with the softer, aromatic Lavender to create a harmonious blend.

Blend Trials: I conducted numerous trials mixing different concentrations and combinations of the chosen notes to find the perfect balance where Lavender and Oud were both distinct yet complementary.

Feedback and Refinement: Samples from these trials were tested with panels to gather feedback on their appeal and the longevity of the scent on the skin. Based on this feedback, adjustments were made to perfect the fragrance, enhancing certain notes for better sillage and longevity.

  • Step 3: Aging, Stability Testing, and Bottling

The final blend then underwent aging, where it was allowed to mature, enhancing the depth and interplay of the fragrance notes. This step is crucial for musk-based perfumes, as it allows the notes to fully develop.

Aging Process: The formulated fragrance was stored under controlled conditions to allow the aromatic profile to stabilize and mature, which can significantly enhance the richness and smoothness of the scent.

Quality Control and Stability Testing: After aging, the fragrance was subjected to rigorous stability tests to ensure that it maintained its integrity in various environments and over time.

Our Ingredients

Cedar Moss

Cedar moss exudes a distinctive earthy and woody scent, imbued with deep forest-like qualities. It has a sharp, almost damp mossiness to it, which can evoke the sensation of walking through a lush, rainy forest. The scent is both grounding and enveloping, providing a robust base that adds depth and longevity to fragrances.

The aroma of cedar moss is multifaceted; it carries subtle hints of musk and pine with a slight balsamic vinegar undertone, which gives it a rich and leathery aspect. This complexity makes it an excellent fixative that can bind other fragrances together, enhancing their depth and persistence.

Incense Accord

Floral Freshness: Lavender's primary aroma is notably floral, presenting a light and airy quality that evokes images of serene lavender fields stretching under sunny skies. This freshness is clean and uplifting, often associated with the crisp air of early morning in the countryside.

Herbaceous Depth: Beyond its floral top notes, lavender also exudes a rich herbaceous character. This quality adds a green, slightly medicinal layer to its fragrance profile, reminiscent of crushed lavender leaves and stems, which contributes to its calming and therapeutic properties.

Subtle Woody Undertones: Lavender finishes with a soft woody undertone that provides a rustic base to its more volatile floral and herbaceous notes. These woody hints help ground the scent, adding depth and warmth that make lavender a favorite choice for both men’s and women’s fragrances.

Our Quality Speaks For Itself

Fact 1

A captivating fun fact about lavender is its royal roots in historical personal care. Queen Elizabeth I of England was particularly fond of lavender and demanded that lavender conserve be available at her table at all times. She also used lavender as a perfume, in her tea for its medicinal properties to treat her frequent migraines, and had fresh lavender spread throughout her rooms to freshen the air and promote a calm atmosphere. This regal preference bolstered lavender's popularity in the 16th century as a must-have herb not only for its scent and flavor but also for its health benefits, establishing it as a staple in both the royal court and common households.

Fact 2

Neroli oil, known for its sweet, floral, and slightly citrusy fragrance, is extracted from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. It was named after the 17th-century Italian Princess of Nerola, Anne Marie Orsini, who popularized the oil as a fashionable fragrance for gloves and bath water. The princess loved the scent so much that she introduced it to the court, where it quickly became a staple in perfumery. Neroli oil not only enjoyed popularity among royalty but also continues to be highly valued in modern perfumery for its soothing properties and ability to blend well with various other notes, creating some of the most beloved fragrances in the world.
