Two Face

Description

Introducing Two Face, an intricately designed fragrance from the Batman Series that captures the dual nature of one of Gotham's most complex characters. This sophisticated scent is a dynamic blend of contradiction. read more

At the heart of Two Face lies a daring use of civet, an ingredient with a rich, animalistic scent that is both provocative and intoxicating. This base note is deeply rooted in the fragrance, symbolizing the darker, untamed side of the character. The civet's presence is enhanced by the smooth and soothing aroma of Indonesian Sandalwood and the deep, woody resonance of Malaysian Oud, creating a foundation that is both opulent and mysterious.

The introduction of the fragrance is a vibrant clash of contrasts, mirroring Two Face's own unpredictable nature. Crisp apple and pink grapefruit provide a bright, juicy opening, offering a burst of freshness that initially masks the deeper complexities of the scent. These lively top notes are paired with the exotic sweetness of pineapple myrtle and the floral, herbaceous touch of lavender, setting a multifaceted stage.

As the fragrance unfolds, it reveals a heart where harmony and conflict coexist. Turkish rose and jasmine sambac emerge with a floral elegance, their rich and seductive aromas enveloping the senses with a luxurious warmth. These lush notes are intricately woven with the fresh, woodsy tones of Blue Cypress and the rare, aromatic Cabreuva, which introduce an element of earthy sophistication.

The journey into the depths of Two Face continues with the addition of exotic Cedar from Virginia, Jade Wood, and a touch of oriental tobacco, each layer adding its own narrative of complexity and allure. The smoky, leathery nuances of tobacco are balanced with the clean, sharp notes of cedarwood, reflecting the ongoing battle between good and evil within Two Face.

Subtler components like orange blossom and palo santo offer fleeting moments of purity and calm, providing a brief respite from the intense journey. These lighter, more ethereal notes hint at the character's once-heroic nature, lost but not forgotten. Meanwhile, carrot seed and spearmint inject a spicy, slightly green freshness that invigorates the composition, adding a spark of unpredictability.

Finally, the fragrance is rounded out with the balsamic richness of labdanum and the additional layers of cedarwood essential oil, deepening the scent's complexity and ensuring a lasting impression. Two Face is a fragrance that evolves with time, a perfect olfactory representation of duality that challenges and enchants with each note.

OUR ALL NATURAL

Our Process

  • Step 1: the concept phase

For Two Face I wanted to create a complex fragrance that has the ability to suddenly change throughout the wear. I’m not talking about how fragrances slowly pase through top, heart, and base notes but something more. Something that smells one way when first sprayed and changes drastically towards the middle.

  • Step 2: expansion phase

I focused on notes that have a strong impact but not such a long lasting duration. Spearmint would be the focus for the first half of the scent while cedar dominates the second half. This duality is the flip of a coin for Two Face.

  • Step 3: Expansion

For this step I expanded both the spearmint and cedar in their own regards. Using ingredients that would compliment them and add depth. For the Spearmint I used, apple, cabrueva, pineapple myrtle, bergamot, and pink grapefruit. For the Cedar I bolstered it with different regions and species of cedar as well as tobacco, lavender, and palo santo.

Our Ingredients

Cedar

Cedarwood oil, commonly extracted from varieties such as Cedar Atlas, Virginia Cedar, and Himalayan Cedar, carries a rich, resinous aroma that is both sharp and soothing. The primary scent profile includes a robust woody base with a hint of spice, and depending on the specific variety, subtle undertones of balsamic, sweet, or herbaceous notes. The aroma of cedar is clean and clear, often with a pencil-shavings-like crispness that many find invigorating and refreshing.

Pineapple Myrtle

This scent is celebrated for its crisp, bright, and uplifting qualities, which embody a unique blend of citrusy and sweet tropical nuances. The primary aroma of pineapple myrtle is characterized by a strong, lemony-citrus scent that is sharper and more intense than that of true lemons. This is coupled with a distinctively sweet and fruity undertone that closely resembles pineapple, giving it a juicy, refreshing quality.

Spearmint

Spearmint, known scientifically as Mentha spicata, is a delightfully refreshing and aromatic herb. Its scent is characteristically crisp, clean, and distinctly minty, with a sweet underpinning that distinguishes it from its relative, peppermint, which has a sharper and more intense profile. The primary aroma of spearmint is a vibrant and cool mint that is both invigorating and soothing. This freshness is complemented by a subtle fruity and herbaceous tone, adding a layer of complexity that makes spearmint both versatile and appealing. The herb's natural scent is often described as having a softer, more rounded quality compared to other mint varieties, making it less overpowering and more subtly invigorating.

Our Quality Speaks For Itself

Fact 1

In Greek mythology, myrtle was sacred to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and was a symbol of love and immortality. The Greeks would often wear crowns of myrtle leaves during important ceremonies, including weddings, to honor Aphrodite. Moreover, myrtle played a significant role in ancient Roman rituals as well. It was associated with Venus, the Roman counterpart to Aphrodite, symbolizing love, beauty, and fertility. Roman brides and grooms would wear myrtle crowns as a sign of love and commitment, and myrtle branches were commonly used to adorn their homes as blessings for happiness and lasting love. In addition to its mythological associations, myrtle has been used for its medicinal properties throughout history. It was used in ancient medicine to treat a variety of ailments, from fever and infection to digestive problems, thanks to its antiseptic, astringent, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Fact 2

Cabreuva wood is often used in shipbuilding and other marine applications because of its inherent resistance to water and rot. This characteristic stems from its dense, tightly grained structure and natural oils, which protect it from moisture and fungal decay. The wood's robustness combined with its pleasant, sweet-smelling aroma makes it a preferred choice for high-end carpentry projects, showcasing a blend of utility and sensory appeal. Additionally, in its native South America, Cabreuva has been used in traditional medicine to treat respiratory conditions and wounds, highlighting its multifaceted value across various cultural practices.
