Our Process

  • Step 1: the concept phase

    To encapsulate this entertaining villain you have to look at his characteristics. His energetic rush for chaos lead me to one key ingredient, COFFEE. There's no way anyone can get all that work done without guzzling loads of it. Coffee however, tends to be a dominating scent, while I wanted it to be the star of the stage I also wanted the scent to have depth and complexity. Bringing different facets to the forefront throughout the wear.

  • Step 2: expansion phase

    We used castoreum for the main animalic of this release because scent wise it fits perfectly with coffee. The subtle smokiness enhances the coffee giving off a freshly roasted scent. While the Sweet castoreum extraction adds some cherry nuances.

  • Step 3: Finalizing

    Now it was time to add depth and a backdrop to Joker. An amber accord adds a deep resinous scent rounding out the sharp strength of the coffee along with the use of french vanilla. Juhi adds a dark floral to the blend accompanying the jasmine in its journey to darkness. Finally the trifecta of ouds sends the king of jokes to a new dimension of trickery.

This primary fragrance is marked by a distinctly roasted quality, derived from the browning of coffee beans during the roasting process, which releases a bouquet of volatile compounds that form the essence of coffee’s signature scent.

Juhi

The scent of Juhi is exquisite and distinctively rich, often described as intensely floral, dark, and somewhat exotic. The primary aroma of Juhi jasmine is profoundly dark and creamy, almost a velvety texture on the olfactory senses. It carries a deep floral heart that is both soothing and uplifting, characterized by a pure and penetrating sweetness that can feel almost intoxicating. The fragrance is layered with subtle green and fruity undertones, which add a fresh dimension to its heavy floral bouquet. These nuances make Juhi especially captivating, as the scent evolves and reveals subtle complexities over time.

Labdanum

The scent of labdanum is multifaceted, characterized by its sweet, leathery, and slightly woody undertones. It opens with a rich, amber-like warmth, exuding a resinous quality that is both balsamic and slightly powdery.
